For too long autism has been viewed through the medical model, centring the autistic person as the problem, rather than acknowledging the barriers that autistic people face.

This way of thinking places blame on autistic people rather than on the systemic factors that hinder us.

When we view autism through the social model we recognise that autistic people need support, understanding an accommodations. Which starts by amplifying autistic voices.
